Introduction: This article explains the functionality of "Variation Only" Operation Codes in Profitz. This optional feature allows you to restrict specific Operation Codes, so they are used exclusively for variation work, ensuring better control over job costing and scheduling data.
What is a Variation Only Operation Code?
A Variation Only Operation Code is a standard Operation Code that has been flagged for restricted use. Once flagged, these codes can only be used on:
- Schedule Lines that have a specified VO No (Variation Order Number).
- Scheduled VOs.
How do I enable this feature?
The ability to restrict Operation Codes is an optional system setting.
- To enable the feature: Please contact Profitz Support to have this functionality activated for your environment.
- To flag a specific code: Once enabled, a new flag will be available on the Operation Code setup screen.
Can I use these codes on standard Schedule Lines?
No. If an Operation Code is marked as "Variation Only," the system will restrict it from being used on non-variation Schedule Lines. This ensures that codes designated for variations are not accidentally applied to standard contract works.
