Description: Use the Stock Locations function to create and manage the list of locations where stock is stored. Every stock item purchased in Profitz must be assigned either to a Job or to a Stock Location. Stock Locations act as holding areas (e.g., yard, warehouse, depot) for materials that are not immediately issued to a job.
Step‑by‑step instructions
Before starting, ensure you know whether the stock you are purchasing or receiving will be assigned to a job or held in a stock location.
1. Open the Stock Locations Screen
Navigate to:
Stock › Stock Locations
2. Understand the Role of Stock Locations
Stock Locations are used when:
- Stock is purchased for general use, not for a specific job
- Materials need to be held in a yard, warehouse, or depot
- You want to track stock levels across multiple storage points
- You need accurate stock availability for Stock Issues, Stock Transfers, and Stock Enquiry
Every stock purchase must go to either:
- A Job, or
- A Stock Location

Click Add to create a new stock location.
Enter the required details, such as:
- Location Code (e.g., HO, YARD01, WHSE)
- Location Name (e.g., Head Office Stores, Main Yard, Warehouse A)
- Status (Active/Inactive)
Click Save to add the location to your list.
4. Edit an Existing Stock Location
To update an existing location:
- Select the location
- Click Edit
- Update the fields as needed
- Click Save
This is useful when renaming locations, correcting codes, or deactivating unused locations.
5. Use Stock Locations in Daily Processes
Once created, Stock Locations can be used in:
- Purchase Orders (Purchasing Location Code)
- GRN Entry
- Stock Issues
- Stock Transfers
- Stock Enquiry
This ensures accurate tracking of stock movement and availability.
