Description
Use the Labour Rates and Cost-Plus Uplift tabs to define default labour charge‑out rates and markup percentages for a job. These settings determine how labour, materials, and products are priced on debtor invoices. Profitz supports multiple levels of specificity, allowing you to set broad defaults or highly targeted rules.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Configure Labour Rates
Navigate to Jobs > Job Setup > Labour Rates.
Labour Rates define the charge‑out rate applied when labour is billed on debtor invoices.
1.1 Understand the Labour Rate Hierarchy
Profitz applies labour rates using the following precedence (from least specific to most specific):
| Job | Set a default rate for all labour charges on the selected job. |
| Job + Resource | Set a default rate for labour charges on the selected job that have been allocated to a selected resource code. |
| Job + Employee | Set a default rate for labour charges on the selected job for a specific employee. |
| Job + Resource + Employee | Set a default rate for labour charges on the selected job, for a specific employee, that has been allocated to a selected resource code. |
Example Labour Rate Setup
Note: A Labour Rates Precedence setting controls which rate is applied first. Contact support@profitz.com for configuration assistance.

- Click Add.
- Enter the following fields:
- Employee Code: Select an employee (optional).
- Resource Code: Select a resource code (optional).

Important:
- Leaving Employee Code blank creates a job‑wide default.

2. Configure Cost Plus Uplift
Navigate to Jobs > Job Setup > Cost Plus Uplift.
Cost Plus Uplift defines markup percentages applied to products and materials for cost‑plus billing.
2.1 Understand the Markup Hierarchy
Profitz applies markups using the following precedence:
| Job | Set a default markup for all products/materials on the job. |
| Job + Resource | Set a default markup for products/materials on the job that have been allocated to a selected resource code. |
| Job + Operation | Set a default markup for products/materials on the job that have been allocated to a selected operation code. |
| Job + Resource + Operation | Set a default markup for products/material on the job, that has been allocated to a selected resource code AND a selected operation code. |

- Resource Code: Select a resource code (optional).
