Job Enquiry is designed to give users a real-time, consolidated view of a job’s financial and operational activity. It allows you to:
- Analyse job costs and sales performance
- Drill into detailed transactions
- Compare actuals against budgets

- Support project reviews and reporting
This tool is particularly valuable for project managers, accountants, and operations teams who need to monitor job profitability and ensure financial accuracy.
How to Access
Navigate to Enquiries › Job Enquiry
Key Features
- Expand: Click Expand to reveal additional columns and sections within the Job Enquiry screen. Data is grouped into logical, readable segments for easier analysis.
- Analyse Costs: Opens the Cost Summary app for the selected job. Use this to generate cost reports by budget type or GL code level. → See: [Analyse Costs]
- Set Period Ranges: Opens the Select Period Ranges app. Use this to generate reports for specific periods, period totals, or custom date ranges. → See: [Set Period Ranges]
- Sales Summary: Opens the Sales Summary app for the selected job. View sales performance, claims, and invoice ageing. → See: [Sales Summary]
- Sales Transactions: Opens the Sales Transactions app. Displays all sales-related transactions linked to the job.
- Cost Transactions: Opens the Cost Transactions app. Displays all cost-related transactions linked to the job. → See: [Cost Transactions]
Enquiry Filters
When running a Job Enquiry, you can filter results using the following criteria:

| From/To Job | Select a single job or a range of jobs. Example: U1001 – U1005 |
| From/To Period | Filter by financial period. Example: 202012 for December 2020 |
| From/To Date | Filter by calendar date range. Example: 12/1/2020 to 12/31/2020 |
| Ageing as at | Defines the reference period for invoice ageing in Sales Summary reports |
| Type | Choose between Sales (claims/payment schedules) or Subcontractor data |
| Budget Type | Select one of the following: |
- Budget (B): Total budget by resource and operation
- Simple Budget (SB): Budget by cost category/operation
- Budget by Period (BP): Monthly budget breakdown Add or edit budget types in Setup › Codes Setup › Job Budget Types |
Click Get Results to generate the enquiry output.
Interactive Tips
- Click any blue hyperlink in the report to drill into detailed breakdowns. Example: Clicking a labour cost amount opens a breakdown by labour type.
- Click the grey bar at the top of the Job Enquiry screen to reveal additional filtering options. Click the bar again to collapse the filters. These grey bars are available across multiple sections of the Job Enquiry app.
Best Practices
- Use Analyse Costs and Sales Summary to compare actuals against budgets
- Use Period Ranges to track job performance over time
- Regularly review Cost Transactions to identify anomalies or overspending
Limitations
- Only jobs with posted transactions will return results
- Budget types must be configured in advance to appear in the dropdown
